Childcare Assistant Program

This is a 5 month Childcare Assistance Co-op in a practical off-site work placement.  You will work in a daycare as a coop student and earn 6 high school credits while gaining work experience.

The Childcare Assistant Course

Gives experience through a work placement working with young children
Teaches about workplace protocol and childcare system
Teaches successful job search techniques
Teaches critical employability skills
Evaluates strengths, attitudes, beliefs and habits, in order to optimize potential
Develops life skills such as managing stress, good decision making techniques
Develops good communication skills

Learn about:

• The needs of children
• Effective parenting
• Children and play
• Safety and the child
• Reading & language development
• Special needs children
• Choosing a daycare
• Healthy eating for children
• Physical, emotional and intellectual development for various ages
