Hairstyling Certificate

Hairstyling Certificate Co-op

Students gain credits toward their diploma while working in a salon environment gaining business experience. This gives the students the opportunity to practice the skills taught in the in school component.

Option to complete Hairstyling Certificate Co-op in a practical off-site work placement.

Are you interested and capable of pursuing Hairstyling as a professional?
You are if you:

  • have a passion for fashion hairstyling
  • dream of becoming a licensed hairstylist
  • want to earn credits towards your secondary school diploma
  • earn hours towards your apprenticeship while earning credits towards your diploma
  • learn in a classroom/salon environment
  • work with top of the line hairstyling and hair colouring products
  • want to be taught by qualified teachers

The Hairstyling program at Emery lasts 10 months.  It begins twice a year, in September and February.  The program includes 5 months at school learning in our fully equipped salon and 5 months working as a coop student in a private salon.

Students must be available to come to class between 8:10 am and 3:00 pm for 5 months.  They must then complete 440 hours of coop in a salon.

Students are required to purchase their own supplies and books for this course.  The full cost for the whole 10 months is $350.

Students must have completed at least grade 10 (earned 16 credits) and have grade 10 English before they are allowed to enrol in this course.
