Helpful Hints for The Job Interview

Here are some hints to help you perform effectively at an interview.

Do’s

Don’ts

Read company literature beforehand. Don’t be late for your interview.
Dress neatly and act naturally. Don’t come unprepared.
Present all relevent credentials. Don’t chew gum or smoke unless invited to.
Be prepared to discuss weaknesses. Don’t lounge in your chair.
Be honest, serious, and sincere. Don’t be evasive.
Be courteous. Don’t misrepresent yourself.
Be specific. Don’t blame others for your weaknesses.
Try to relax. Don’t criticize yourself.
Look directly at the Interviewer. Don’t become impatient or emotional.
Speak clearly. Don’t talk too much or too little.
Listen carefully and allow the employer to expess himself of herself. Don’t be flippant.
Appear interested in each employer. Don’t unduly emphasize starting salary and fringe benefits.
Emphasize your potential strength. Don’t oversell you case.
Focus on the job. Don’t overextend the interview.
Emphasize your attributes. Don’t make hasty decisions.
