Thousands
of adult immigrants come to Canada from many difficult backgrounds and
they want to communicate with other people. Education
helps them to achieve their goals, and Emery is
a great place to get this education! |

My
name is Abdul. I am a student at Emery Adult Learning
Centre. I came to Canada one year ago. I chose Emery Adult
Learning Centre because I’d heard about
its good reputation. When I came to Canada, I asked my relatives who had been
living here for a long time and other fellow workers
where I should go to school. Everybody pointed
toward EALC. I went to other schools too, but
I didn't find any like EALC.
The
reason that I liked this school at first sight
was because this school was bigger than the other
schools and it has a beautiful campus. Secondly,
I saw that the student services (which help students
to plan their future), the helpful and highly
qualified teachers, and
the other students all treated each other like
a friend.
When
I got admitted to Emery, the consultant gave me
ESL classes but I wanted to choose grade 11 or
grade 12 English. Actually, I thought my English
was very good because I was studying for a B.Sc.
(Bachelor of Computer Sciences) back home and
I have been studying English since I was child,
but I was wrong. When I started the ESL class,
I found myself in the middle of the class. With
the help of good and experienced teachers, I have
improved my English more than I expected.
I
would like to become a police officer and for
that they want a high school diploma. My second
option is university. Emery Adult Learning Centre
is helping me to get my high school diploma and
to make my dream come true. In this school, I
like the way of teaching because the teachers
teach us in a friendly and practical way. We understand
more than the just the content of the course.
I think Emery Adult Learning Centre provides us
with different skills and training programs that
other schools do not.
The
value of Adult Education in the 21st
century is very important because education helps
our economy to grow and makes us aware of the
laws and customs of Canada.
