What
I would like to say to adult students is, “Never
give up! Life is difficult, but if you try hard,
you'll win one day.”

I
consider myself lucky to have taken the Co-operative
Education course at Emery Adult Learning Center.
The Co-op Head, Joan Slacer, was devoted to helping
students find the right work-placement. I was
placed in a very good private school. My teacher
also gave me an opportunity to volunteer at Emery
and work with a wonderful math teacher, Mr. Scala.
These two great experiences made it possible to
have the chance to be a supply teacher in both
schools later on. At the same time, I was doing
courses at University of Toronto to evaluate my
diploma. As soon as I finished the courses at
university, I was asked me to work in both the
private school and at Emery the following September.
I
am so glad to work as a teacher again. It's like
a dream come true after working hard to learn
English and to become a teacher in Canada, as
I was in my country for ten years. I always dreamed
of being a teacher at Emery so that I could help
other students. In November 14, 2002, I started
working as a teacher in my dream place. I enjoy
working with adult students and I do my best to
help them improve their skills in mathematics.
I
would like to give a special thank you to Emery’s
Head of Mathematics, Lesley Mason, who continuously
encouraged me since I was volunteering here and
supplying later on. I am also grateful to the
hard-working Mary Moore, Head of Student Services.
